Stream Data Centers just hired a new vice president of sales to lead the company's sales efforts focused on managed services providers (MSPs).

The Austin/San Antonio, Texas-based national data center developer and operator has appointed Scott Mitchell to the role. In his new job, Mitchell will focus on MSPs and colocation companies. Mitchell will also oversee enterprise account development in central and south Texas.

Mitchell brings more than 20 years of sales and management experience in the hosting and network services industries to his new role. His experience includes directing, managing and supporting data center outsourcing services, carrier strategies, wireless networks, IP/core networks, FTTx and microwave back-haul, as well as field operations and maintenance.

Mitchell also led the 25-state central region sales organization for Rackspace (RTC). He also was the director of global service sales for Ericsson. He previously served as general manager for Verizon (VZ) National Accounts, and, prior to joining Stream Data Centers, Mitchell was the national sales director for Peak Hosting.

“Scott brings the knowledge base and strategic perspective that fits well with our customer-centric approach to data center development and operations,” said Rob Kennedy, co-managing partner, Stream Data Centers, in a prepared statement. “His experience will help to continue our momentum with engaging both enterprise customers and managed services providers."

The new vice president of sales will be based in the Austin/San Antonio area.
