Sophos Introduces Hosted Version of Mobile Control 2.5

Security solutions provider Sophos has released a hosted version of its mobile device management (MDM) solution, Mobile Control. The software as a service (SaaS) option is based on the company's Mobile Control on-premise software which the company updated in August . The new hosted solution lets companies manage mobile devices without changing their own backend infrastructures or making new capital investments, and is the first of a  full range of hosted security applications the company plans to release.

Sophos  says its new hosted alternative takes much of the complexity out of setting up a mobile device management system. For instance, the solution enables businesses to create policies, upload lists of users and develop acceptable use policies for employee-owned devices. Companies can access all this with any web browser through the Mobile Control web console, a self-service portal. The SaaS version can also help companies reduce operational costs due to the lower maintenance needs of a cloud-based solution.

Sophos Mobile Control is available for on-premise installation or as Software as a Service under a subscription license. The on-premise version is also included in the Complete Security Suite, which combines endpoint, data, email, web, server and mobile protection in one license.

Sophos also offers additional mobile security solutions such as Mobile Security,  an antivirus app for Android devices available for free download on Google Play and Mobile Encryption, an app used in conjunction with SafeGuard Enterprise Encryption for Cloud Storage to allow mobile access to encrypted files in the cloud.
