7. Security Moves: Roaring Penguin continues to bolster CanIT Archiver, according to sources tracking the company.  CanIt Archiver is an email archiving program targeted at MSPs. It is integrated with Autotask, Connectwise, N-Able, Level Platforms, Kaseya and more. We expect an update on Roaring Penguin’s strategy soon.

6. Targeted Attacks: It seems like upstart software companies have started to attack large installed bases in the managed services software. We’ve already written about LabTech Software reaching out to Kaseya’s big installed base. Now, Doyenz seems to be taking aim at Zenith Infotech‘s cloud and BDR (backup and disaster recovery) partner base. Kaseya has previously stated that its IT automation software sales to MSPs continue to grow. I’ve asked Zenith for comment about the state of its cloud and BDR businesses.

5. Breaking Away from Vacation: Lots of MSP industry experts have been on vacation in recent weeks. Autotask Senior VP Jay McBain and Kaseya CEO Gerald Blackie, respectively, just returned from vacations. And both are expected to surface at CompTIA Breakaway (Aug. 1-4, Washington, D.C.).

4. Done Deal: CenturyLink has completed its buyout of SAVVIS, the managed hosting and cloud services provider. CenturyLink and SAVVIS have 48 data centers in North America, Europeand Asia.

3. Security Moves, Part II: Trend Micro Inc. says its Worry-Free Business Security Services, Worry-Free Remote Manager and the Licensing Management Platform leverage the cloud to fully support the managed services business model.
