ScaleMatrix Takes CA ARCServe Into the Cloud
San Diego-based ScaleMatrix, a data center and private cloud hosting firm, announced that it has finalized an OEM agreement with CA Technologies to distribute products for CA’s ARCserve in North America, building upon an ongoing relationship between the two companies.
The new data backup offering has two tracks: on-premise set-up or an appliance-based service based on CA AppLogic cloud technology. ScaleMatrix especially want to sell the appliance version to service providers planning to add data protection to their SaaS offerings. Talkin Cloud reported in October that CA had signed on 60 partners to AppLogic.
“ScaleMatrix’s comprehensive understanding of the computing requirements of both enterprise and SMB customers make it a great choice for companies facing an explosion in the volume of data they need to protect—while the resources they can afford to allocate to that protection remain relatively limited,” said David Roberts, CA’s VP of the Americas for Data Management, in a prepared statement. “We look forward to working closely with them to meet the needs of our expanding installed base of CA ARCserve customers.”
ScaleMatrix intends to use CA’s Cloud Commons enterprise-focused marketplace to promote its new ARCServe products. It also chose to base the appliance product on the Dell 510 series.
