Rumor: ConnectWise Makes Another Investment

Word on the street says ConnectWise has made another investment. MSPmentor has heard the deal involves a completely new market segment that solves a classic MSP challenge.

An educated guess: The deal will surface at IT Nation 2013 or sooner. Rather than disrupting an existing market segment, MSPmentor has heard this deal involves a blue ocean opportunity — a key gap in the MSP (managed services provider) market that software and cloud companies have yet to address. 

ConnectWise, through its ConnectWise Capital arm, has invested in several companies since 2010 — including LabTech Software, Quosal and CharTec. Among the results is The ModernOffice Suite, which allows MSPs to detect revenue opportunities, quote them and implement them.

In recent months, the MSP software market has been shifting from point products or services (PSA, RMM, BDR, NOC) and more towards Total Business Automation or Total Business Management solutions. I think the next chapter of TBA — and ConnectWise's next investment — will unfold soon…
