Rackspace Launches Partner Academy for Cloud Training
Rackspace is rounding out its partner training programs with a new on-demand e-learning program. Grant Irons, channel partner training manager at Rackspace, unveiled the new Rackspace Partner Academy eLearning program on the Rackspace blog this week.
Irons didn’t go into details as to what specific products would be supported under this new on-demand elearning initiative, except to say it will cover managed hosting, cloud computing and SharePoint, as well as other Rackspace hosting services, but it is likely safe to say this will cover Rackspace’s OpenStack solutions. But will it be tied into the OpenStack certification program Rackspace announced a month ago? That’s an unknown at this point.
The new on-demand training program is now available via Rackspace’s partner portal, providing the vendor’s partners with access to the various on-demand courses. To begin with, Rackspace is providing more than 30 on-demand lessons across eight different courses. That is likely only the beginning, and it’s probably safe to say Rackspace will launch new lessons over the next several months.
Designed by NetExam, the new e-learning platform appears to be part of an overall strategic initiative coming out of Rackspace. With the OpenStack certifications and now the Partner Academy eLearning program, Rackspace is putting an emphasis on partner training to get partners trained up on open cloud solutions.
Irons wrote in his blog post: “Training is a big part of enablement for our partners and we feel it is integral to partner development and continued growth in the cloud. As we move into 2013, training will continue to be an important element for partners to maintain their status levels within the partner program.”
With hints at more to come in training, as well as possibly a revamp of its partner program that will place more emphasis on training and certifications, Rackspace should have a busy 2013, whether in the classroom or not.
