The investment “fundamentally steps on the gas to accelerate innovation,” Presidio says.

As global demand for digital transformation continues to soar, Presidio has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services, the largest public cloud computing provider.

Presidio, based in New York, acts as a digital services and solutions provider throughout the world. It earned premier consulting partner status within the AWS Partner Network a year ago Now it’s taking that relationship a step further with the new SCA.

AWS uses its SCAs as investment vehicles. The vendor funnels money, tools and support into partners’ operations when it sees the right opportunities for growth. And, to be fair, AWS sees a lot of growth opportunity with the channel. So far this year, it has signed SCAs with TD Synnex, MongoDB, Rackspace and more.

In line with that ethos, Presidio will put the SCA to work to help more customers adopt AWS cloud services and platforms. The company also will develop new services and products with AWS’ help. The impetus? Organizations are struggling to migrate to the cloud, and then to manage those workloads, Presidio says. As public cloud services adoption ramps up (21.5% globally this year, according to Gartner), so does the skills gap. With AWS, Presidio aims to address that problem.

“Our strategic agreement with AWS fundamentally steps on the gas to accelerate innovation with training and resources to pave the way for our customers who want to move to the cloud to do so more easily and predictably,” said Chris Cagnazzi, senior vice president and general manager of digital business at Presidio. “This agreement is a testament to the strength of our collaboration and the expertise of our team in helping organizations around the world realize the benefits of the cloud.”

What the AWS Strategic Collaboration Agreement Does for Presidio

Here’s what all of that looks like, specifically.

First, Presidio says it will do more training and enablement with its sales and technical teams. Those professionals will become cloud practitioner-certified. As a result, they will be able to expand Presidio’s AWS delivery capabilities so medium and large enterprises – in the commercial and public sectors – will use more cloud technologies.

Second, Presidio is expanding its MSP business model with AWS. That will allow its customers to get more operationally efficient by using more AWS solutions, Presidio said.

Finally, the company is extending its AWS solution practices across the company. This encompasses activities in rapid migration and modernization, application development, data and analytics, DevSecOps, and cloud center of excellence.

Centers of Excellence

That latter point comes of particular interest. Centers of Excellence enable professionals to create platforms by following best practices and connecting with people who provide expertise and guidance. And, while not everyone in the cloud industry has implemented a center of excellence, Channel Futures is noting more mentions of these models in the indirect channel.

Meantime, Ruba Borno, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at AWS, said teaming up more closely with Presidio through the strategic collaboration agreement makes sense.

“Presidio has the right depth, expertise and understanding of AWS to drive cloud adoption and make a positive impact for their customers,” Borno said. “We’re excited to expand our relationship with Presidio as they’re committed to learning, innovating and solving challenging business problems that drive customer outcomes.”

Presidio operates in seven AWS programs and competencies. Moreover, it holds almost 900 AWS certifications across the DevOps, solutions architect, security and systems operations disciplines.

Separately but related to the Presidio-AWS SCA news, logz.io, which targets managed security services providers with its SIEM platform, said on Tuesday it has earned AWS Security Competency status. The achievement applies to logging, monitoring, SIEM, threat detection and analytics.
