Perimeter eSecurity Inks Managed Security Partnership

Even as portions of the financial services industry go down in flames, Perimeter eSecurity sees opportunity in the distressed market. The Milford, Conn.-based managed service provider, ranked No. 7 in last year's MSPmentor 100, has launched a managed security service for specific financial services firms.

Here's more on the strategy, which includes a partnership with Techmate, a software provider to the broker dealer industry since 1984.

Under terms of the relationship, Perimeter will provide the following services to Techmate's broker dealers, which range from 3 to 100 back office employees:

  • unified threat management
  • SPAM filtering
  • eSecurity training
  • vulnerability scanning
  • emessaging compliance and archiving
  • remote backup and recovery
  • managed network intrusion detection and intrusion prevention
  • secure hosted Microsoft Exchange
Perimeter eSecurity points out that it already serves 15 percent of the US banking market. Techmate, by contrast, specializes in software for commission processing, compliance verification, reporting and secure remote entry.

At a time when many IT companies are cutting back their marketing to financial services firms, Perimeter eSecurity and Techmate seem to be promoting some classic MSP messaging into the broker dealer industry: It's hard to argue with predictable IT costs, higher reliability, and outsourced applications.
