OpenDNS, which manages a cloud-based Internet security network, yesterday announced a new intergration with professional services automation (PSA) platform provider Autotask.

The integration allows managed service providers (MSPs) to centralize OpenDNS security alert trouble tickets and metrics within their PSA.

It also enables OpenDNS partners to automate the management and delivery of the company’s Umbrella enterprise security services within the Autotask platform.

“This integration automatically pushes OpenDNS security service status, customer network usage data and alerts to Autotask. Furthermore, MSPs can set queues, priorities and other important parameters to take advantage of workflow automations available in Autotask. This makes our partners more efficient, more proactive and most importantly, more profitable,” OpenDNS Senior Product Manager Dima Kumets said in a prepared statement.

OpenDNS noted the integration allows MSPs to specify ticket queues, status, starting priority and issue and ticket type and automatically generate security alert trouble tickets in Autotask.

The company now provides various metrics in the Autotask dashboard, including:

  • OpenDNS licenses utilized by each customer

  • Usage data including the number of protected networks and endpoints per customer

  • Daily and monthly reports including the malware infections prevented and botnet infections contained

“The integration of OpenDNS with Autotask enables MSPs to provide an important additional layer of protection for any device, anywhere, while unifying security alerts and IT management within a single pane of glass,” said Len DiCostanzo, Autotask’s senior vice president of community and business development.

OpenDNS plans to demonstrate the new solution at the Autotask Community Live Conference in Miami next week. Check out MSPmentor for updates throughout the event.
