Cloud-delivered Internet security services specialist OpenDNS has rolled out its Umbrella for MSPs service integration for ConnectWise to provide MSPs with a place to centrally manage and deliver Umbrella web filtering and security services.

The integration puts OpenDNS reporting information directly into ConnectWise.

OpenDNS MSP Product Manager Dima Kumets told us during a brief conference call that this integration was one of the top requests from partners. He noted that MSPs wanted to enjoy what ConnectWise has to offer, while also being able to “extend the intelligence” of the OpenDNS dashboard.

Now MSPs can retrieve the following data through the ConnectWise platform: service status on customer endpoints, malware infections blocked, number of Botnets contained, number of DNS queries processed, top websites visited, blocked domain statistics and top website categories.

Kumets said he will continue to focus on MSPs leveraging not just security tools, but management tools as well, including multi-tenant dashboards, sales models that work with monthly recurring revenue, and enabling MSPs to provision and deprovision users.

He also noted a “fundamental shift in security in the threat landscape,” where malware is becoming a “profitable entity,” something he spoke more about during a breakout session at IT Nation 2013.

OpenDNS released the newest version of its Umbrella Web security platform back in July.
