Odyssey Software, which develops mobile device management (MDM) software provider for the enterprise, has extended its Athena platform to support Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 — a.k.a. Mango. Athena is Odyssey’s signature MDM platform for Windows Phone, Android, Apple iOS, Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded CE devices, and it claims to be the only MDM software provider to offer a fully integrated MDM software solution for the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager. Here’s a look at the new features that Odyssey Software enterprise business customers can now benefit from.Odyssey has added new application, document and media provisioning features; more software aimed at determining the health of devices connected to enterprise networks and device location and reporting capabilities. All of these new features are aimed at helping enterprises protect and manage their Windows Phone devices, according to Odyssey Software CEO Mark Gentile, who said Odyssey intends in keeping pace with Microsoft as the company continues to invest in Windows Phone enhancements.
The announcement has potential implications for enterprise system management providers, security solution providers and managed service provider (MSPs) that are Odyssey partners. The MDM software provider has made clear that the new version of its Athena platform will be sold through its service provider partners and is available immediately.
Odyssey Software is one of many MDM software providers named to the 2011 Gartner Inc. Magic Quadrant for mobile device management (MDM) software, along with Numara Software, MobileIron and others.
