Novell Launches Cloud Security Service for MSPs

Novell Cloud Security Service

Today marks the launch of the Novell Cloud Security Service, designed to give MSPs, hosting companies and cloud providers the ability to deliver compliance and secure access for their customers’ applications. Novell says the multi-tenant access and identity management solution is the company’s first cloud offering built exclusively for partners. Here’s the scoop.

The core concept, says Novell Senior Solutions Marketing Manager Anita Moorthy, is to give end-customers the peace of mind of knowing that their access to SaaS applications is fully managed and compliant at all times.

Where do partners fit in? Novell Cloud Security Service is hosted with the partner, not with Novell, so MSPs can offer customized security that extends customers’ existing identity management infrastructure into the cloud.

As far as the billing model goes, Novell Director of Partner Marketing Dan DuFault says that it’s “pay by the drink,” which is to say that the MSP or hosting firm can track customer usage and bill whatever they deem appropriate, and then Novell gets a cut. DuFault says it’s designed to give their cloud partners an easy way to ride SaaS momentum.

Novell’s press release marks the new cloud security service as part of their “WorkloadIQ vision,” helping customers move workloads into the cloud.
