Integra Telecom, the Oregon-based business telephone and Internet service provider, has appointed Ken Worcester its new vice president of indirect sales. Translation? Worcester is Integra’s new channel chief. The move signals Integra’s effort to promote cloud-based services through the channel.

Worcester’s appointment marks the first time that Integra has named a channel chief. Worcester will oversee the company’s Premier Partner Program. Partner benefits include pricing discounts, ongoing training and business development support and a premier partner co-branding program. The program was previously run by individual regions, as Integra has offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Integra made the move in order to more aggressively sell its suite of high-bandwidth and cloud-based services through the channel and to create a more unified, national partner program.

High bandwidth and cloud services will be an ongoing focus,” Worcester said in a prepared statement. “That’s what our agents are asking for, and that’s the direction we’re taking as an organization.” Worcester has been Integra’s vice president of sales in Minnesota and Colorado before shifting to this position.

Worcester won’t be alone in running Integra’s Premier Partner Program. Each Integra regional market has a channel manager and several sales coordinators and engineers. There will also be a national sales desk to assist the company’s channel partners. Worcester will act as the head of the company’s channel relations to whom all regions report.
