NaviSite Chooses Desktone for Enterprise DaaS

NaviSite, the cloud and managed services provider, has partnered with Desktone, a Desktop as a Service (DaaS) provider. Under the terms of the agreement, NaviSite will be able to deliver Desktone's cloud-hosted virtual desktops to its enterprise customers.

The partnership means that NaviSite is expanding its portfolio of cloud offerings to include Desktone's DaaS solution. The company spent the last few months evaluating several different virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions before finding Desktone.

According to NaviSite, it chose Desktone's DaaS solution because of its multi-tenancy, scalability, and easy-to-provision format that will allow NaviSite's enterprise customers to provision desktops for any device, wherever they are.

So Desktone's DaaS solution will be integrated into the NaviSite NaviCloud Platform. NaviCloud is the company's foundation for all of its infrastructure, hardware and application service offerings. According to NaviSite Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer Denis Martin, Desktone will give NaviSite customers a VDI solution that is scalable, elastic and secure.

The NaviSite-Desktone deal is another example of NaviSite going full throttle when it comes to expanding its reach in the cloud. Another example? NaviSite formed a cloud partnership with Comport Consulting near the end of 2011 in order to help Comport expand both its cloud and on-premise offerings.

For Desktone, the deal adds to the company's hot start to 2012. This already marks the third VDI deal Desktone has sealed this year. The others were with Paladin Building Services and Quest.
