N-able Technologies has released N-Central 8.1 — the newest version of its remote monitoring and management (RMM) managed services platform. The new release includes VMware remote monitoring; a mobile application for Google Android; and automatic warranty expiration monitoring. Those three capabilities are becoming increasingly common across the managed services market, as MSPs seek to master complex virtualization and mobile issues, without overlooking basic warranty-driven revenue opportunities.

N-able CEO Gavin Garbutt said in a prepared statement: “The new release underscores our commitment to help MSPs profitable expand their businesses, deliver 100 percent IT coverage and extend the range of services, support and cost savings they offer to customers.” Garbutt will surely build on those themes during the N-able Partner Summit (Oct. 12-14, Scottsdale, Ariz.).

N-able claims N-central is the first RMM solution to achieve VMware Ready certification, meaning it passed a series of Vmware-conducted tests to ensure the managed services platform is highly compatible with VMware products. The first version of N-central to become VMware Ready was N-central 8.0. That announcement came at VMworld at the end of August, 2011. N-central 8.1 builds on that certification by monitoring and profiling ESX and ESXi servers. The Android compatibility component also builds on N-central 8.0, which included mobile compatibility for all Mac products. N-Central 8.1 is available as a free, downloadable upgrade for MSPs that are existing N-able clients.

N-able’s N-central 8.1 release continues the company’s steady monthly development cycle. Since May, the company has launched N-central 8.0, developed a managed services partnership with Ingram Micro, debuted its policy manager for MSPs, put out its MSP Sales and Marketing Digital Binder and now launched N-central 8.1. We’ll see what N-able has in store for October during the partner conference.
