MSPs and Apple iOS: An Upgrade Checklist for Your Customers

To assist managed service providers (MSPs) with Apple’s recent release of its iOS 6 operating system for iPads and iPhones, MSPmentor provided advice on how to handle discussions on this recent upgrade. This advice, as well as the advice below, should be considered for any new upgrade that has the possibility of affecting your customers.

Who Are Your Customers?
Understand who your customers are, and what they need from you. Some of your customers will choose to upgrade their devices, while others will not. How will you support decisions from your customers? If you disagree with their decisions, how will you convince them otherwise? As an MSP, it’s your job to know what your customers need.

Let Them Know When You Know
Your customers aren’t going to be following the latest trends in the industry: you are. Stay up-to-date on what’s upcoming, and keep your customers in the loop. By keeping your customers in the loop, you make it easy to explain upgrades to them, and it also shows them that you are on top of your game.

Your Game Plan
Once you’ve made your customers aware of upcoming upgrades, let them know your plans to address those upgrades. How will you help them prepare for the upcoming upgrade? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Make sure your customers understand that you are looking out for them, and you know the next move.
