How do you price managed services? What steps do you need to take to ensure profitable growth? How do you buy or build a network operations center (NOC)? N-able  (now a part of SolarWinds (SWI) ) this week has released its MSP Playbook, an interactive e-book that serves as a complete guide for MSPs looking to answer these and other questions – both technical and business — that MSPs have. Here are the details.

N-able’s MSP Playbook e-book is designed as an end-to-end business plan for MSPs, from those who are new to the business and looking for help with startup questions to those who are mature companies looking to build profits. MSPmentor got a sneak peek at some of what is available in the Playbook, and although we are bloggers and not MSPs, in our opinion it is comprehensive and impressive.

The playbook is fee-based and only available to N-able partners. However, you can get a flavor for what it has to offer here:  https://secure.n-able.com/playbookpreview/. N-able points out that it invested $50,000 in the research development of this e-book.

Among some of the other topics covered in the book are the following:

  • How to choose a professional services automation tool

  • Sample agreements and service level agreements

  • Information about how to build a successful team

The new e-book follows the launch of N-able’s MSP Business and Technician Runbooks and builds on the success of the company’s Blueprint for Success and Report Manager offerings.  N-able says the Playbook also complements its remote monitoring and management and service automation platform N-central and covers nearly every aspect of the MSP business model.

N-able has encouraged MSPs to focus on increasing automation in their businesses in recent years, noting that this is the key to increasing profitability. SolarWinds acquired N-able in May 2013
