Momentum Telecom Buys CommPartners for VoIP Services Push

There's an old saying on Wall Street: Buy low, sell high. That's the goal at Momentum Telecom, which has acquired CommPartners Connect -- a VoIP services provider that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2010. The deal potentially connects Momentum Telecom with more than 200 CommPartners resellers and over 27,000 hosted seats and SIP Trunks. The big question: Did those partners remain loyal during the CommPartners bankruptcy?

Momentum plans to maintain CommPartners' sales support, account management, Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support in Las Vegas -- where CommPartners was based.

According to Momentum CEO Alan Creighton: "Our management team identified an excellent opportunity to acquire the assets of another digital voice provider for financially favorable terms, giving us the ability to grow our customer base, leverage significant core technology assets to the advantage of current and future customers, and continue building leadership in this space."

CommPartners Connect was reporting annual revenues in the $77 million range during its hay-day, so the acquisition is sure to catch attention in the VoIP space, particularly in terms of servicing MSP's and cable operators.

Momentum Telecom is CLEC certified in 45 states and has surpassed 100,000 lines with the CommPartners Connect acquisition, making Momentum Telecom one of the largest wholesale providers of digital IP telephony services in the United States.
