Microsoft reportedly has followed the closing of its fiscal year with job cuts impacting less than 1% of its 180,000-person workforce. However, it plans to hire more workers in the months ahead.

That’s according to Bloomberg. The cuts impact a variety of groups including consulting, and customer and partner solutions, and were dispersed across geographies.

Microsoft ended its fiscal year on June 30. It will announce its year-end and fourth-quarter earnings on July 26.

“Today we had a small number of role eliminations,” Microsoft said in a statement to Bloomberg. “Like all companies, we evaluate our business priorities on a regular basis, and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business and grow headcount overall in the year ahead.”

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has cut jobs as a fiscal year ends. In July 2020, it announced layoffs affecting fewer than 1,000 jobs.

In the meantime, Microsoft’s search for a new global channel leader continues. Rodney Clark unexpectedly vacated the role and left the company in May. He left a year after taking over the role. And on Tuesday, Tyler Bryson, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of global partner solutions for the U.S., was appointed corporate vice president of health public sector industries for the U.S. at the company. This marked another departure of a key executive from Microsoft’s partner business.
