IT management software provider ManageEngine has added device support for EMC Avamar to enable backup server monitoring in OpStor, its storage resource management and capacity forecasting solution.

ManageEngine said its new release, OpStor version 9, serves as “a one-stop solution for organization-wide storage monitoring needs.”

OpStor is a storage management tool that supports more than 100 different devices, including:

  • Host bus adapters (HBAs)

  • Host servers

  • Redundant arrays of independent disks (RAIDs)

  • Switches

  • Tape libraries

ManageEngine noted OpStor version 9 allows storage administrators to monitor all of their nodes from a single page.

OpStor version 9 also provides client, disk, node, plug-in and server reports for single and multiple node configurations of EMC Avamar.

Storage admins can use OpStor to view the following metrics for EMC Avamar:

  • Client — Last backup date, last modified time, client backup status

  • Node – Utilization by operating system/user, network transmitted/received, disk reads/writes, utilization, state, ping time and more

  • Servers — Data protected, overall utilization, last updated time

“With OpStor, which now supports monitoring of EMC Avamar backup servers, admins can be assured of reliable backup and recovery of their mission-critical data from a single console,” OpStor Product Manager Pravin Kumar said in a prepared statement.

ManageEngine unveils new OpStor dashboard

In addition to device support for EMC Avamar, OpStor version 9 features a new dashboard that summarizes all of the activity happening in a storage environment.

ManageEngine said the OpStor dashboard provides a snapshot of the overall status of a storage environment with the stats of the top 10 disks and tapes based on metrics such as reads, writes and input/output operations per second (IOPS) to help storage admins address critical alerts quickly and manage their devices more effectively.

OpStor version 9 is now available with prices starting at $795 for up to 25 disks.
