Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-based managed service provider (MSP) LYNX Computer Technologies recently earned some publicity in the McClatchy-Tribune by highlighting its data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity solutions.

The beginning of the story that ran in the local paper last month explained how the MSP can switch customers to a virtual server within a half-hour and how BDR can protect organizations from ransomware like CryptoLocker.

LYNX Vice President Peter Mullenberg said his company’s IT staff leverages Datto to switch and operate its computer system from the cloud, even if the company’s hardware is compromised.

“If someone has this technology in place, that is a mere bump in the road,” he told the local paper last month.

LYNX has handled several cases in which the CryptoLocker ransomware forced customers to choose between losing a day’s worth of data or paying a ransom of about $1,000.

And as a result, many of these customers have switched to Datto to avoid similar issues going forward, Mullenberg said.

LYNX provides Datto solutions to about 200 small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers.

Datto works with approximately 5,000 partners in the United States and CEO Austin McChord has said his company  handles about three to five disasters per day and can restore failed systems in as little as 6 seconds.
