LogMeIn Adds Free VoIP to Virtual Collaboration Platform

LogMeIn, the virtual platform provider for remote meetings and other collaboration services, has upgraded its join.me online meeting service to include free VoIP conferencing. So LogMeIn business and individual customers can now use VoIP on the platform to makecalls from PCs and Macs, as well as from mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones. LogMeIn plans on adding the VoIP service to the Android version of its join.me app in the near future.

The new VoIP service works with both join.me and join.me pro, which is the premium paid version of the online meeting service. It also gives users unlimited domestic and international conference lines, along with the ability to integrate VoIP and teleconference line into a single conversation.

VoIP has been one of the most requested features among join.me users. That's according to LogMeIn Director of Collaboration Products Lou Orfanos, who said that the solution's new VoIP feature is as powerful and as easy to use as the the join.me solution itself. "Whether it's a sales pitch or a brainstorm, we believe sharing and collaborating should be frictionless and easy so people can focus on the task at hand, not the logistics of a meeting," Orfanos said in a prepared statement.

Remember, LogMeIn is fresh off of signing a deal with Continuum, a remote monitoring and management (RMM) software provider, through which Continuum will promote LogMeIn's collaboration platform offerings to its managed services provider customers. With that in mind, LogMeIn's latest upgrade to the join.me platform could target MSPs just as much as its traditional end-user customers.

We'll also be on the lookout for news regarding LogMeIn Rescue, as the company said it plans to integrate LogMeIn Rescue with Bold Software, a web chat and customer communications software company, which it acquired in January.
