Liongard recently announced a series of employee layoffs, causing more than a few arched eyebrows in the industry. The “organizational changes” were declared via a LinkedIn post from Liongard CEO Joe Alapat.

The layoffs come amid growing hurdles in “the market for technology companies” in recent months. These struggles may point to an uncertain landscape in the coming year.

An Increasingly Challenging Market

“As we have all seen in the press and social media, the market for technology companies has been difficult to navigate in recent months. We listened and learned from the market and investors and are evolving our plan. While Liongard’s market, product and growth remain strong, we are prioritizing a path to profitability,” Alapat wrote in the LinkedIn post. “To implement this new plan, we must make organizational changes that require us to part ways with a portion of our teammates who have been with us on our journey. This has been the most difficult decision I’ve had to make at Liongard, and I know it will be challenging for our teammates.”

Message to the Community

In the same post, Alapat put out a plea for support from partners, customers and the community.

“To the MSP community, many of our teammates have supported you, and I am asking for your support in helping them continue their own 10x journey – through referrals, advice and connections in your network,” said Alapat. “I cannot thank them enough for their contributions to Liongard. Each of them would be an asset to any organization.”

Message to Partners

To Liongard’s partners, Alapat made sure to recognize that their success is the key to Liongard’s success.

“We continue to work hard to deepen our relationship with you and to support your evolving needs, as well as the needs of the customers you serve. The Liongard commitment to our partners remains steadfast.”

There was an outpouring of support and optimism in the comments to the post. There was also a fair amount of executives from other companies who commented. Posts relaying that they were hiring and to contact them for possible positions were numerous.

With rapid and significant changes, new challenges are always on the horizon. In light of these employee layoffs, it will be interesting to see how this shakes out industrywide.
