Jelastic Adds New Developer Features to Cloud Platform

With a new incremental version of its cloud hosting platform, Jelastic is introducing new features for cloud software developers and hosting providers. The platform, which is billed as a zero-code-change hosting platform for Java and PHP applications, was also upgraded to take web hosting providers’ needs into account.

The 1.9.2 version of the platform, which follows three months after the last version release, provides several new and enhanced features, including:

  • GIT and SVN auto-deploy, allowing users to set immediate and periodic automatic deployment of projects based on the changes they have committed via a GIT/SVN repository. According to Jelastic, this should greatly increase their productivity.

  • Support for PHP 5.5. Users can change the version of stack they are currently using through drop-down lists.

  • FTP and FTPS access to database servers. FTP and FTPS access to applications has been available for some time, but now Jelastic has expanded FTP and FTPS support to include access to database servers so users can do file-sharing and data transfer to and from their Jelastic environments simply and easily.

  • The ability to schedule MongoDB backups with just a few clicks.

  • The ability to change GC, -Xmx and -Xms, enabling users to configure memory settings and set custom parameters for their Java container.

  • The ability to assign an internal IP to VDS components. Jelastic VDS was designed as a full-root-access virtual private server customers can use for any extra components their apps might need, including back-end servers, console applications, email servers and backup servers. Users can assign such servers publicly and with private IP addresses.

  • Search from the dashboard.

“Every day we listen to the feedback of our web hosting partners and also the members of our ever-growing community. In this release, we have implemented so many of the requested features and changes,” said Dmitry Sotnikov, Jelastic COO, in a prepared statement.
