Intronis: Cloud Storage Provider Cuts Some Sales Staff

Intronis, which promotes cloud-based backup and storage to MSPs, has cut some sales staff to better manage costs and better align the company for growth with channel partners, the company says. Intronis's channel and MSP commitments remain intact, the company adds. The big question: Has a new or permanent CEO arrived at Intronis? We're still digging around on that potential story angle. In the meantime here's some more background.

According to a company spokeswoman:

“Intronis remains 110% committed to the channel and its partners. There is no change in the company’s go-to-market strategy, core values and beliefs. Providing its channel partners with the technology and business enablement to grow their businesses profitably and meet the data protection/backup/recovery needs of the market is – and will remain – a top priority.”

Intronis has remained in growth mode, according to financial data published in the Inc. 5000 results. But the company has also been seeking a permanent CEO in recent months. Interim CEO Jay Bolgatz has been running the company since former CEO Kent Plunkett exited in 2012. There are rumors Intronis has hired a new CEO but MSPmentor has not independently confirmed the rumor.

Former Channel Chief Ted Roller shifted to LogMeIn in December 2012, and former VP of Marketing and Community Carol Ferrari joined AccuRev in February 2013. But it sounds like those exits were more about external career opportunities that surfaced rather than internal challenges at Intronis. Also, Intronis has been seeking to fill a new position: Chief Marketing Officer, to further raise the company's profile.

Intronis Co-founder Neal Bradbury is now VP of channel development and remains on the road meeting with channel partners and MSPs. This week he's at VMware Partner Exchange in Las Vegas. MSPmentor is on-site at the event.

We'll offer more updates as we confirm more information. Updated, 6:02 p.m. ET, Feb. 27: Some updated views here.
