Intermedia Adds Microsoft Office 365 Cloud Services

Intermedia is hedging its cloud services bets. The hosted Exchange provider will also become a Microsoft Office 365 syndicator. The move comes shortly after Intermedia started a hype campaign, pitching its own hosted Exchange partner program over the Microsoft Office 365 partner program. But now, Intermedia has announced the rollout of its own Microsoft Office 365-based solutions and services, including support and migration, starting in Q4 of 2011.

“Our inclusion of the Office 365 syndicated offering in no way affects our current Hosted Exchange business,” said Bob Leibholz, senior VP of sales and business development at Intermedia. “In fact, it enhances and compliments it quite well.  For those customers for whom our hosted offering is the right solution, we’re more than happy to provide it; and on the Private Label side, we will continue to sell our hosted Exchange exclusively.”

In other words: Intermedia will promote its own Hosted Exchange 2010 service to channel partners like MSPs, VARs and aspiring cloud services providers. But on the flip side, Intermedia will sell Office 365 to those end-customers that may prefer Microsoft’s cloud services, with some value-added services from Intermedia.

Obviously, Intermedia isn’t the first (or even the second) hosted service provider to add Office 365 to its retinue. But in the official press release, Intermedia says that what sets its cloud offering apart is “white-glove 24×7 support, complimentary migration to the cloud, innovative and easy-to-use control panels, and a growing suite of proprietary cloud services.”

Intermedia says Microsoft Office 365 will be deployable through Intermedia’s HostPilot control panel. With a few extra clicks of the mouse, Intermedia customers can also add hosted PBX or cloud backup services.
