Ingram Micro and subsidiary Promark Technology have joined forces to form the Emerging Business Group (EBG). The distributor made the announced Wednesday at its Ingram Micro Global One Experience Event.

The EBG team will work with prime vendors that don’t currently do business with the channel.

“We’re building on our investment in emerging vendors,” said Kohl. “And we’re working to identify and develop those diamonds in the rough that our channel partners need to succeed.

The EBG team combines the high-touch services, specialization, and speed of Promark Technology with the power, performance, and partnership of Ingram Micro’s emerging vendor team. Team members include Artic Wolf Networks, Bitdefender, Blancco, ENET, Nutanix, Proofpoint and Scale Computing, and Tenable.

“We’ve taken the best of both teams to create a dedicated single team. This team is dedicated to helping these vendors build scale and achieve success with the channel. Bringing these teams together really amplifies the number of dedicated salespeople and resources we have available to the vendors and providers we work with. It’s makes our team faster, stronger and easier to do business with,” Kohl said.

Emerging Technology

The emerging vendors focus on three tech areas: security, data center and networking.

“We’ve launched [with] many of today’s leading and fast-growing channel-friendly, emerging tech vendors … Security, data center, data protection and networking are areas where we see the most players coming in. However, we’re also working on what’s next. Technologies such as RPA, AI, and other emerging technologies,” said Kohl.

So, what’s in it for channel partners? Channel engagement. Vendors work on a blueprint for success for engaging with partners.

“Doing business with vendors and providers who go to market through Ingram Micro’s EBG team brings confidence to channel partners,” said Kohl. “It does this by letting them know we’ve vetted them. And also that we’re working with them to deliver the best experience,” said Kohl.
