iIT Buys Veddio to Simplify Cloud Services Management

IT services company independenceIT (iIT) has acquired Veddio, a cloud services management provider and MSP services aggregator, seeking to unite its channel focus and Complete Cloud Workspace services with Veddio’s offerings and partner base.

In its press release, iIT claims the acquisition “broadens independenceIT’s customer base and enables channel partners of all sizes to reap the business-enabling benefits of the cloud through simple, intuitive management tools.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. With the move, Veddio co-founder and CEO Todd B. Myers will become COO of independenceIT, and Stonly Baptiste, co-founder and Veddio CTO, will serve as executive vice president of Technology/Innovation.

“Veddio’s strong channel program — featuring over 150 partners — aligns perfectly with our focus on the reseller market,” said iIT CEO and Co-Founder Charles Buck, in a prepared statement. “Integrating VCD allows iIT to offer our channel partners an unprecedented opportunity to combine the Cloud Workspace with popular services and software offered by other, complimentary cloud vendors.”

According to iIT, its Cloud Workspace solution addresses challenges such as application virtualization and user and policy management. The Veddio Cloud Dashboard (VCD) simplifies cloud services management and allows users to combine cloud or Internet-based services to produce bundles of cloud services — thus enabling channel partners to create a “unique footprint” for their cloud offerings. The joined services will offer “a complete end-to-end solution: from the initial service request, through service fulfillment and ongoing systems management,” the companies noted.

iIT and Veddio also want to facilitate how their channel partners market and manage cloud services. The VCD platform enables partners to provision multiple cloud products, improving support and efficiency and helping them integrate widely used professional service automation (PSA) applications, according to Veddio. iIT’s Cloud Workspace compliments VCD, the company noted, since it delivers 350 “mission-critical” business applications. End users will be able to select iIT applications and services from the VCD interface.

In 2011 iIT switched to a channel-only sales model and has since announced partnerships with AIR Technology Services, Green Pages, EarthLink and VerdTek.
