HP announced on Monday at the TeleManagement World show in Nice, France, it is participating in industry initiatives designed to help telecom companies manage voice and data networks more efficiently through new-generation operations systems and software technologies.

HP Integrated Service Management (ISM) is the companys blueprint for OSS and BSS. The system integrates these functions, providing carriers and operators with the technology they need to manage their networks and services, improve mediation and billing, and assure customer QoS.

HP is enhancing HP ISM with functionality from the OSS through Java initiative (OSS/J), which focuses on the adoption of standards-based APIs and design guidelines for the development of component-based OSS systems. OSS/J technologies provide the foundation for unifying legacy systems and new applications quickly and at low cost, according to HP. The company said it has developed an OSS/J adapter that provides an interface for HPs OpenView TeMIP network management product. HP OpenView TeMIP unifies and integrates multiple management domains across infrastructures including wireless, wireline, IP and IT environments.

“As networks become more converged and more complex, and subscribers demand better service, operators must emphasize OSS as never before,” said Michele Campriani, worldwide director of operations domain, network and service provider solutions for HP.
