Hornetsecurity partners will benefit from a strategic growth investment in the company by TA Associates, the global growth equity fund.

That’s according to Daniel Blank, Hornetsecurity’s COO. TA Associates will join existing investors PSG Equity and Verdane, as well as the company’s management team.

The transaction should close in the fourth quarter, pending customary regulatory approval. Hornetsecurity and TA Associates didn’t disclose financial details of the transaction.

Based in Germany, Hornetsecurity is a top email security provider in Europe. The company says its products protect more than 2 million users against the latest and most sophisticated cyber threats. Its product portfolio includes email security, backup solutions, and archiving and continuity services. It also offers security awareness training.

Hornetsecurity developed its 365 Total Protection Suite specifically for Microsoft 365. It integrates into businesses’ existing Microsoft 365 environments.

Hornetsecurity Partners to Benefit from Portfolio Additions, Enhancements

Hornetsecurity serves customers across a range of sizes and industries. The majority are served through the company’s channel partner community of more than 8,000 VARs, MSPs and MSSPs.

“As Hornetsecurity is a channel-first company, our partners will benefit from any additions to and enhancements to our product portfolio, and from our expansion plans — be they VARs, MSPs or MSSPs,” Blank said. “Our aim is to continue innovating, evolving our portfolio and extending our footprint, thereby delivering greater value to our partners and customers.”

Furthermore, Hornetsecurity’s services are available via its multitenant, centralized control panel, he said.

“And this will also be the case for the new launches we are currently working on, as well as future releases,” Blank said. “While expanding the range of solutions for our partners to sell, it also adds convenience as it provides them with one central location to manage and monitor the different services across their customers. An added benefit is that it enables them to work with a single vendor for different products, for greater ease and convenience.”

Verdane invested in Hornetsecurity in 2016, and PSG Equity made its investment in 2020. Since 2020, the company has completed three acquisitions to expand its cloud cybersecurity offering, adding cloud backup solutions and security awareness training.

Investment to Further Support Hornetsecurity’s Strategy

This new round of investment aims to further support Hornetsecurity’s product buildout and international expansion strategy through continued organic growth acceleration and M&A.

”Hornetsecurity has continually demonstrated its ability to innovate and identify solutions that meet the evolving cybersecurity and compliance needs of its customers,” said Morgan Seigler, managing director at TA Associates. “Looking ahead, we believe there is ample opportunity for the company to further strengthen its product portfolio and grow its footprint, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. We look forward to partnering with Hornetsecurity’s proven management team, led by Daniel Hofmann, PSG and Verdane in support of the company’s growth journey,”
