Green Olive Tree Leverages Paessler PRTG Monitoring

Meet Green Olive Tree, a Norfolk, Va.-based managed service provider. The company is comprised of three members: Owner Jon Berry and two part-time assistants. Yet Green Olive Tree uses Paessler‘s PRTG networking monitoring software to support SMB customers in Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Israel and the UK. Green Olive Tree’s goal: Evolve from a straight web-hosting service company to a full remote service management firm.

“Uptime and connectivity are crucial for my clients,” said Berry, who has used Paessler’s PRTG monitoring solution for the past seven years. Berry recently upgraded to PRTG version 8.3, which he says is much faster than previous versions. Specifically, it captures an entire picture of a customer’s SMB network, helping Berry to speeds troubleshooting. Green Olive Tree is able to stay competitive with such a small staff largely because of what Berry calls “an affordable option for a small company.”

“We place a high priority on delivering outstanding service to our clients,” Berry said.

Meanwhile, Paessler has been striving to raise its visibility within the managed services software market. The company released Paessler PRTG version 8.4 in early May 2011. Also, Bill Brown joined Paessler in April 2011 as the company’s North American Channel Chief.
