Earlier this year, Fujitsu and Ingram Micro partnered to offer North American MSPs and VARs the Ingram Micro Service Desk. Now, Fujitsu is showing some managed services momentum of its own. Specifically, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand has signed a three-year managed services contract with Horizon Power. Horizon is Western Australia’s state government-owned utility company, which provides electricity for over 4,200 customers throughout Western Australia.

Fujitsu will provide Horizon Power staff and contractors with the following managed services:

  • Service Desk

  • Server, Storage, Database and Network Support

  • Capacity Management

  • Support for email and Citrix applications

  • VoIP Telephone System Support

  • End-User Device Support

  • Meeting Room Technologies

  • Applications Packaging

  • Service Delivery Management and Reporting

Fujitsu’s managed services will help Horizon Power provide greater efficiency to all of its service areas and improve its own infrastructure security. It will also give Fujitsu the opportunity to showcase its energy sector management skills, according to Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand CEO Mike Foster. “We will be able to lever our Energy Sector expertise as well as our significant investments in the local region to deliver a seamless infrastructure support service,” Foster said in a prepared statement.

Elsewhere, Fujitsu has been working with Microsoft on the Windows Azure cloud strategy. On August 1, Fujistu launched its first global cloud platform service that is powered by Microsoft Windows Azure since the two companies struck a deal in July 2010.
