Garbutt says VIPSoftware will "become one of North Americas fastest growing and most profitable software companies over the next 10 years."

Former N-able Technologies CEO Gavin Garbutt seems to be putting his retirement life on hold and getting back in the game. VIPSoftware Corp., a compliance-focused web-based software solutions company, today revealed that Garbutt has joined the company’s board of directors, effective immediately.

A VIPSoftware spokesperson told MSPmentor via email that Garbutt’s role as a board member will consist of being a strategic advisor in the business, where he will assist the company with corporate governnance and finance.

Garbutt was offered the position because of his experience in the insurance vertical and his winning track record in helping startup companies, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that VIPSoftware CEO James Makris, a colleague of Garbutt’s for more than 12 years, approached Garbutt to ask him to join the board. Garbutt had plenty of praise for the company, too.

“VIPSoftware has a unique and disruptive solution and value proposition that will enable it to become one of North America’s fastest growing and most profitable software companies over the next 10 years,” Garbutt said.

The former N-able CEO left that company after the SolarWinds acquisition for $120 million in cash in May 2013.

Garbutt has been regarded by many in the channel as one of the top names in the managed services software market. He is also an MSPmentor 250 member.
