EarthLink’s Managed Security Monitoring: Here’s What You Need to Know
EarthLink (ELNK) has announced a new service that enables businesses to “go beyond basic compliance requirements and implement meaningful security.”
The Atlanta-based managed service provider (MSP) and hosting company unveiled a Managed Security Monitoring Service that is designed to monitor customers’ desktops, laptops, networks, point-of-sale (POS) devices and routers to detect security issues. Additionally, EarthLink said this service enables IT professionals to identify suspicious security activities before they become major events.
“Our customers told us loud and clear about the need for this service as security breaches continue to accelerate,” Rick C. Froehlich, EarthLink’s vice president of products and consumer, told MSPmentor. “It made sense that EarthLink would handle their security management and monitoring given limitations in their staffing and, in some cases, expertise gaps.”
Peter Chronis, EarthLink’s chief security officer, said his company’s Managed Security Monitoring can detect threats across the entire IT ecosystem.
The service collects and analyzes log data, EarthLink said, to reduce threats that compromise business applications and customer data.
Other Managed Security Monitoring features include:
- Monitoring processes and procedures that meet HIPAA, PCI, SOX and GLBA requirements
- Threat detection capabilities
- Web-based reporting via the myLink customer portal
EarthLink is offering three Managed Security Monitoring service levels as well:
- Silver – Includes once daily security log and event review and escalation
- Gold – Includes 24/7 monitoring with one-hour review and escalation and vulnerability identification scans on customer networks, servers and mobile devices
- Platinum – Includes 24/7 monitoring with one-hour review and escalation, vulnerability identification scans on customer networks, servers and mobile devices and vulnerability remediation
EarthLink said it is now offering the Silver service level to customers, and the Gold and Platinum levels will be available in the second quarter.
