DigitalOcean to Add 60 New Jobs in Cambridge Next Year

New York-based cloud provider DigitalOcean will bring 60 jobs to the Cambridge, Mass. area next year with plans to open a second office in the U.S. in Q1 2017.

According to DigitalOcean, its new 7,100 square foot office will be located at 485 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, and will be home base for DigitalOcean executives Julia Austin, CTO, and Emmanuelle Skala, VP of sales and customer success.  The company plans to hire more than 60 employees in the areas of engineering, product, sales and marketing.

Austin, who joined DigitalOcean in June, previously worked at VMware, launching the company’s first engineering site outside of California in Cambridge.

Other technology companies with locations in Cambridge include Akamai, Google, Microsoft and Hubspot.

“DigitalOcean has quickly become one of the most successful companies that has emerged from the Techstars program. In just a few years, they’ve won developers’ hearts,” Semyon Dukach, Managing Director of Techstars in Boston said in a statement. “It’s been exciting to witness DigitalOcean’s rapid growth as they continue to innovate. DigitalOcean will be a tremendous addition to the Boston tech community.”

DigitalOcean recently launched its own global incubator program, called Hatch, which gives startups access to DigitalOcean’s cloud for 12 months. With a location in Cambridge, DigitalOcean will have a new selection of startups at its doorstep.

The company said that it will continue to invest in growing its team and technology to support larger applications in production.
