D-Day At Dell: December 5

Circle the date: Dell is inviting partners and MSPs to participate in a major channel briefing on December 5. During the teleconference, Greg Davis, VP and GM of Dell’s Americas Channel Group, will discuss Dell’s long-term vision for working with partners, and he’ll announce Dell’s latest channel plans. The call runs 1:15 to 2:15pm eastern. You can join in by visiting here.

Sure, Dell faces its share of critics in the channel. Quite a few folks openly question the company’s recent acquisitions of Everdream and Silverback Technologies. And now investors are a bit worried because Dell’s latest earnings and future outlook aren’t meeting Wall Street’s expectations.

Time for customers, investors and partners to abandon Dell? Perhaps not. Dell desperately needs help from partners to push higher-margin solutions like storage and virtualized servers. Instead of abandoning partners, Dell is inclined to reward them in order to drive sales and, in turn, increase shareholder value.

More observations to come after Dell’s channel call on December 5.
