CSC Managed Services Agreement: Signs of Progress?

Computer Sciences Corp. Company LogoComputer Sciences Corp. (NYSE:CSC), the massive IT consulting firm, seems to be making progress in the managed services market. A case in point: Safety Insurance Group has extended its managed services agreement with CSC to 2021. The MSP contract extension arrives after CSC suffered some managed services turbulence in 2011.

Under the new agreement, CSC will provide Java-oriented applications and managed services to Safety Insurance. The engagement includes CSC's Java-based Exceed Billing system. Safety Insurance also uses several of CSS's hosted applications, including Agency Link (a web portal for insurance agents).

CSC's goal is to help Safety Insurance's customers with self-service applications. And by the way: Safety Insurance has been a CSC customer since 1997, CSC indicated.

The Safety Insurance contract extension is good news for CSC's managed services business, which suffered some setbacks and management changes in 2011. Plus, CSC sounds like it's making progress in the cloud services market. Indeed, CSC's qualified cloud services pipeline has reached $900 million for 2013, the company has stated.
