As Computer Sciences Corp. pursues more cloud computing and healthcare IT deals, the big consulting firm is taking steps make sure it has enough IT experts in place to meet customer demand. Indeed, CSC has signed a $300 million contingent labor program with The Computer Merchant, an IT staffing and contingent workforce specialist. The move comes a few days after CSC shook up its managed services business unit.

Under terms of the deal, TCM will source and deliver contingent professionals — basically, on-demand IT staff — to CSC’s commercial business units in the U.S. Those on-demand IT staffers augment CSC’s core staff. CSC and TCM are long-time partners, having worked together for more than a decade.

Meanwhile, CSC has been working to strengthen its managed services business practice, which has experienced setbacks in recent months. CSC Managed Services Sector President Russ Owen recently stepped down and will retire in 2012, according to an SEC filing. Peter Allen now leads CSC’s managed services business.
