Continuum Launches HIPAA Resource Center for MSPs
Cloud vendors have been pledging their support to help MSPs ensure they are compliant with rules that went into effect with the Sept. 23 HIPAA Omnibus deadline, and Continuum is no exception. The remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform provider announced last month that it is fully prepared to help MSP partners.
The company has set up a resources center to help MSPs who need to comply with provisions of theHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.
“Healthcare is one of the largest vertical markets for our partner base. MSPs who serve covered entities such as doctors’ offices, hospitals, and health insurers need to be compliant with HIPAA if they want to continue those customer relationships and protect themselves from liability,” said Rob Autor, Continuum’s SVP of Global Service Delivery. “We have strengthened our overall information security program throughout 2013 in anticipation of this month’s deadline and implemented safeguards necessary to achieve HIPAA compliance.”
Continuum also noted that it is prepared to sign a business associate agreement (BAA) with partners who require it. “The BAA is a contract, which acknowledges the associate’s obligations under HIPAA, and among other things, describes how a business associate will report and respond to a data breach,” Continuum said in a statement.
