Consonus, HP Team on Managed Services

Consonus Technologies Inc. now has an $118 billion ally in its corner: the data center and managed services provider has unveiled a partnership with Hewlett-Packard Co. Here are the details.

Consonus said it will provide IT infrastructure and technical support services for HP servers and storage. The addition of HP will help Consonus acquire new customers and further serve existing customers’ needs, according to Jonna Murnick, Consonus’ director of marketing. The company’s delivery approach is to provide services at the customer’s data center, a virtual data center, or at a Consonus data center.

“HP expands the reach that we have into the data center,” Murnick said.

In addition to HP, Consonus’ manufacturer partners include Hitachi Data Systems, NetApp, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, and VMware.

As Consonus expands its partner base it will soon undergo a management transition. On October 1, CEO Mike Shook will retire from daily operations as will Will Shook, executive vice president of channel sales. They will remain active on the company’s board, according to a company statement.

Bob McCarthy, executive vice president of sales and marketing, and John Roger, chief operating officer, will become co-presidents of Consonus. Nana Baffour, executive chairman of the Consonus board, will become more involved in the company’s strategic direction, the company said.
