Coming Sometime Soon to an Enterprise Near You: Google+
We don’t know when or how. But the Google+ team has taken to its own social network to assure customers that yes, Google Apps users will get access to the new, hot online hangout — just as soon as they figure out the best way to implement it.
On June 29, 2011, a meager one day after the launch of the Google+ social network, Google Enterprise President Dave Girouard made his inaugural status update: “Can’t wait to get Google+ out to some of our Apps for EDU schools!” And in the associated comment thread for that original post, Giroaurd and his fellow Googlers give replies to user questions that indicate that the Google+ team is pooling feedback before it takes the plunge into the enterprise space.
A few days later, Girouard made his intentions for Google+’s availability to those Google Apps users explicit. In fact, on July 10, 2011, Girouard asked his Google+ followers how they’d like to see the network play ball with Google Docs.
Google+ is experiencing a popularity boom. In fact, over the weekend, Google+ administrators had to cope with the notification server overflowing its capacity and spamming users. But I have to ask: Do Google Apps Authorized Resellers even want Google+? Let us know by sharing your thoughts in the comments below.
