Cloud Sherpas Acquires New Zealand Google Apps Provider
Cloud Sherpas, a Google Apps Authorized Reseller and Talkin’ Cloud 50 member, has made its third acquisition of the summer in the form of WaveAdept, based in Wellington, New Zealand. The move marks Cloud Sherpas’s entry into the Asia Pacific market. The cloud service provider has also opened a Sydney, Australia, branch to help build that momentum.
According to the press release, Cloud Sherpas gets “local, well-connected senior management talent” by acquiring WaveAdept, as well as Google Apps Certified Deployment Specialists. (Side note: Cloud Sherpas already accounts for the most specialists outside of Google itself.). Cloud Sherpas also gains a bunch of “enthusiastic” Google Apps customers to manage. The provider is clearly anticipating explosive growth in the Asia Pacific cloud market, and not without reason.
WaveAdept, a cloud integrator of sorts, has migrated “dozens” of companies and “thousands” of workers to Google Apps, as well as handled selling and serving Google Apps for major accounts. Cloud Sherpas is hyping WaveAdept as a more than solid start as it prepares to bolster its workforce in the region significantly. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Earlier this summer, Cloud Sherpas snapped up Beloit Solutions Group in the midwest US, and before that it was Omnetic here in San Francisco.
Frankly, Cloud Sherpas acquisition spree is nothing short of startling. Cloud Sherpas is starting to build itself up as a good case study for the idea that there’s money in the cloud for savvy partners. Still, we need to keep the deals in perspective: We don’t know if Cloud Sherpas is paying reasonable valuations for each acquisition, and we don’t have a feel for Cloud Sherpas’s own profitability.
