American telecommunications provider CenturyLink (CTL) this week announced it will offer new on-demand managed services. The company will deliver pay-as-you-go cloud-based services that will be available via CenturyLink Cloud starting June 30.

The company’s new managed services will be available through CenturyLink Cloud nodes in Santa Clara, California and Sterling, Virginia.

CenturyLink initially will provide the following eight managed services:

Jared Wray, CenturyLink Cloud’s chief technology officer, commented on the new managed services in a prepared statement:

“CenturyLink continues to change the game in cloud. One-click access to managed services delivers our expert management resources in a new way, providing customers with extraordinary flexibility. As cloud adoption evolves and enterprises pursue new and easier ways to manage their IT infrastructure, the time is right in the industry for an optimized experience that brings cloud together with expert managed services.”

CenturyLink said it also will introduce additional services and global locations in Asia and Europe later this year and integrate its entire portfolio of managed hosting services into its cloud platform.

Launching new managed services appears to correspond with CenturyLink’s long-term goals as well.

CenturyLink has added to its managed hosting and colocation business through the acquisitions of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider AppFog and public cloud services company Tier 3, merging them with Savvis to form its Technology Solutions division.

Jeff Von Deylen, CenturyLink Technology Solutions’ president, last November said his company ultimately wants “to provide world-class managed services to global businesses on virtual, dedicated and colocation infrastructures.”
