Carousel To Acquire Atrion

Carousel Industries, a powerful IT services and solutions company based in Exeter, R.I., has signed a deal to acquire Atrion Inc. of Warwick, R.I.

The deal will create one of the largest and most influential IT services companies in the U.S. When complete, the combined entity will employ “more than 1,300 professionals working in 25 offices, serving as strategic advisors to more than 6,000 clients nationally and globally,” according to the company. Total annual revenue for the combined entity is likely to be around $525 million.

If you’re not familiar with Carousel, the company is powerhouse player in the market, selling everything from voice, video, data, collaboration and cloud solutions built atop a wide variety of technologies from Cisco, EMC, Fortinet, Microsoft, Oracle and plenty of others. Since its founding in 1992, the company has grown through both organic expansion and acquisition. The deal with Atrion is the company’s ninth acquisition.

Carousel operates 30 regional offices throughout the U.S., and maintains a 65,000 sq.-ft. warehouse in Rhode Island near its headquarters, and complementary facilities in San Diego and Albany, N.Y. It also has a disaster recovery center located in Bridgeport, Conn.

Atrion, meanwhile, specializes in security, productivity, collaboration, networking, applications integration and data center solutions. The company is a certified reseller of more than 20 core vendors, including Cisco, Microsoft and Verizon. Most recently, the company was recognized as No. 30 on the 2016 MSP 501.

In a blog published Wednesday on the company’s website, Carousel CEO Jeff Gardner noted the healthy competition and admiration between the two organizations. “Although Carousel and Atrion have enjoyed a healthy competition in the marketplace for many years, we’ve also shared a mutual respect, as well as a common vision for ensuring employee, customer and partner success,” he wrote. “By adding Atrion to our team, we increase both agility and scale and we look forward to many more years of continued growth and success in creating value for customers by delivering desired business outcomes.”
