Brother International Corp. has launched BR-Docs, a cloud-based document management service for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

BR-Docs enables SMBs to access, organize, store and sync digital files from a desktop or Apple iOS or Android mobile devices over a wireless network. According to a press release, users can drag and drop files from their computer straight into their BR-Docs workspace and view content on their mobile devices.

“Cloud computing has dramatically helped to improve collaboration with employees both in the office and on the go,” Dan Waldinger, Director of Solutions and Services at Brother, said in a prepared statement. “BR-Docs is a comprehensive and secure cloud document management solution that can help business[es] improve workflow efficiencies and ultimately promote a more productive work environment.”

Brother noted BR-Docs users can:

  • Assign tasks

  • Collaborate with colleagues by creating specific workspaces

  • Control and create groups

  • Digitize documents

  • Initiate discussions across an organization

  • Manage all files from a single location

BR-Docs subscriptions are now available for personal and premier users and include 25 GB of online storage. Users also can download a sync tool plug-in for Microsoft Office and a mobile application for Apple iOS and Android devices.

Growing interest in cloud document management services has created new opportunities for several managed service providers (MSPs). In addition to Brother, Canon (ADR), DocPath and Ricoh offer managed document services that are designed to help their customers reduce their expenses and streamline their operations.
