BoxTone Extends Mobile Management to Google Android
BoxTone has extended its software suite to manage, track and control enterprise smartphones running on the Google Android 2.0 mobile operating system. The announcement follows last month’s launch of BoxTone v5.0, which included new support for other ActiveSync-attached mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre and Windows Mobile.
“Customer and market responses to BoxTone v5.0 have been terrific,” said Alan Snyder, CEO, BoxTone. “Enterprises, agencies and managed service providers need the comprehensive visibility into mixed BlackBerry and ActiveSync mobile platforms that only BoxTone software can provide. We continue to innovate to meet customer needs, today adding support for smartphones running on the Google Android 2.0 OS.”
Designed for a multidevice, multiplatform environment, BoxTone v5.0 automatically discovers and inventories all enterprise-connected smartphones – including Google Android 2.0 devices – then tracks utilization, identifies threats and eliminates wasted spend.
BoxTone said other capabilities include Asset, Expense & Compliance Management, to unlock and control critical mobile data while recovering 3-8 percent in costs from under-utilized devices; Incident Management, designed to warn of pending issues before users call while cutting mean time to repair (MTTR) by 70-80 percent; Problem Management, to proactively tune system performance and resolve chronic issues, reducing costly incidents by 30-40 percent; Service Desk Management, useable by even novice staff to resolve inbound mobile user support calls in less than three minutes; and User Self Service deployed as an device application, which enables mobile users to identify and resolve more than 20 risks and issues before they lead to missed messages, outages or slow performance.
