AVG Launches Secure Sign-On: Here’s What MSPs Need to Know
AVG Technologies (AVG) has released AVG Business Secure Sign-On (SSO), a solution that leverages Centrify‘s identity management technology to help businesses control their employees’ cloud applications and mobile devices.
Francois Daumard, AVG’s vice president of global channel sales, told MSPmentor that he believes AVG Business SSO “fills a gap” for his company’s managed service provider (MSP) partners because it enables them to embrace identity as-a-service (IDaaS).
“AVG Business SSO gives MSPs an opportunity to get in on a growing market,” he said.
Mike Foreman, AVG’s general manager of small and medium-sized business (SMB), noted that AVG Business SSO “makes it simple for businesses without big budgets or in-house IT staff to keep company confidential data safe, private and within their control.”
The solution is designed to promote “business without walls,” he said, and allows users to protect data even if it is shared via employee-owned mobile devices and externally hosted cloud services.
AVG Business SSO features:
- Centralized control of cloud and mobile apps/data for one-click authentication of end user mobile devices
- Identity policy, verification and mobile device management (MDM) service
- Password management capabilities
- Support for more than 2,500 cloud-based business apps, including Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce
AVG originally announced a partnership with Centrify to deliver IDaaS to its MSP partners at the AVG Cloud Partner Summit last October. Foreman also told MSPmentor at that time he believed AVG’s partnership with Centrify would enable the channel to embrace mobile.
“We have mobile device management platforms, but we really need to find a way to do more. We want to make sure the channel can take control of customers’ data and provide value with managing it,” he said. “[The partnership with Centrify] will provide value to businesses, and it will also allow the channel to secure customers’ data.”
