AVG Cloud Partner Summit: CloudCare 3.3, VMware Service Module Coming
AVG Technologies (AVG) provided a comprehensive look at its product roadmap this week at its Cloud Partner Summit in Phoenix — from its new Managed Workplace release to other tools for its managed service provider (MSP) partners.
David Haadsma, AVG’s vice president of product management for small and medium-sized business (SMB), outlined the company’s upcoming releases during a roadmap presentation. Haadsma said Managed Workplace 9.0, AVG’s most recent update to its remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform, is due for release next month.
Haadsma added AVG partners should expect a new version of CloudCare, the company’s IT management platform, by the end of the year, too.
“[This version] will feature centralized master controls and an HTML 5 interface that provides a much cleaner look for your customers,” he said.
Haadsma also provided details about AVG’s partnership with identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) solutions company Centrify, which will provide partners with a secure multi-factor gateway across all of AVG’s services for free.
For background, Haadsma also provided information about tools that have already been launched such as Hyper V and Microsoft Office 365 service modules for Managed Workplace. He said that the company has a VMware (VMW) service module in the works as well.
“[This module] will give partners a top-down view of their customers,” Haadsma said. “It will give partners more power and completes the Hyper V service module we released earlier this year.”
“We don’t want to charge for that,” Haadsma noted. “We’re a security company.”
What is AVG planning for 2015?
The beginning of next year could be busy for AVG, as the antivirus software provider intends to launch a partner portal in the first quarter of 2015.
Haadsma said this portal will allow partners to manage multiple customers simultaneously.
“It will be cost-effective for you and your business,” he added. “You can learn how to use it and sell it to your customers.”
AVG will continue to invest in its operations through acquisitions, development and partnerships, Haadsma said, to try to find ways to make it easier for partners to manage their businesses.
“We’re trying to create one unified system that manages people, data and devices,” Haadsma said.
