Are Your Prospects Using Outdated Network Security Tools
Are most companies unprepared to deal with hackers? Frost & Sullivan recently found many businesses are using outdated network security tools, despite the fact that malware, viruses and other cyber threats are becoming more complex.
The San Antonio, Texas-based research firm noted “cyber crime today is big business,” and managed security services can help companies minimize or eliminate cyber threats.
Businesses often have problems managing multiple endpoint security solutions, Frost & Sullivan said, and the research firm recommended using advanced managed security services such as Masergy‘s security-as-a-service as a single solution to combat cyber threats.
“Managed security services can provide early threat detection, latest threat profiles and actionable remediation insights … all for a monthly service charge,” Craig D’Abreo, Masergy’s vice president of security operations, told MSPmentor. “Managed security services provide the same cost/benefit scenario of cloud services: you get experts to run your system for you, you need less staff in-house [and] innovation comes as part of the service.”
What are advanced managed security services?
Advanced managed security services combine big data analytics of all of the threat data that comes into a business’ PCs, servers and security systems, according to D’Abreo.
The increasing demand for advanced managed security services could create new opportunities for managed security service providers (MSSPs) as well.
Frost & Sullivan recently estimated managed security services market revenues could reach $3.25 billion by 2018, while Transparency Market Research predicted the managed security services market could be worth more than $24 billion by 2019.
D’Abreo noted advanced managed security services provide “constant monitoring,” which could make them valuable options for enterprises to secure their networks for years to come.
“The [managed security services] customer is getting constant monitoring [and] an integrated system that co-relates data and continually adapts to the current and emerging threat landscape,” he said. “[The customer] also gets 24/7 security experts watching for upcoming problems.”
