A Closer Look: Kaseya India Executive Transition

When Kaseya announced an executive transition in India yesterday, I wondered if the company had hit any hurdles with its international strategy. Kaseya has been expanding aggressively in India since at least 2009, so the country is extremely strategic to Kaseya’s international strategy. One of the key names to know going forward: Kaseya Executive VP Martin Ashby (pictured). Now, here’s some background on the lastest move.

Kaseya India Country Head Girish Krishnamurthy is transitioning out of his operations role early this spring. And Ashby (pictured) will take over day-to-day responsibilities for the Kaseya India office. I don’t know Krishnamurthy, but I have met Ashby multiple times. He’s got extensive experience working in the IT market across Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

In an email to MSPmentor, Kaseya CEO Gerald Blackie said the transition was well-planned and a deep management team remains in place. Translation: No big hurdles or surprises have surfaced in India.

Blackie wrote:

“We have solid team in India. Girish has done a great job of getting us entrenched in India as was his remit. He is part of the team going forward. He sits on the board and will play a more strategic role in the company while he takes time to pursue other goals. That was agreed all along. Martin is overseeing India while Girish takes some time off during the transition but its important to know that the local team will run day-to-day operations very well. We have a great managers in India and super partners so there is no pressure to find a direct replacement for Girish.

Blackie also described additional key executives who are helping to drive the Kaseya India strategy:

  • Nanda Kumar, VP Sales, will take over the business development role (he had been focused on those efforts under Girish).

  • Ajit Bedekar has already been managing Kaseya’s NOC operations.

Concluded Blackie: “Think of Girish as the seed person for our India business. We are proud of the work Girish has done for us and we think he will be instrumental in our business going forward. We are as committed to India as we have ever been.”

While I don’t have access to Kaseya’s international revenue information, I believe the company has one of the largest international leadership teams in the MSP software market.

Generally speaking, many MSP software companies send their North American executives on extended business development trips in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. In stark contrast, Kaseya has long-established outposts worldwide.

We’ll be watching to see how the Kaseya India performs under Ashby’s day-to-day management.
